Three men, including the deputy in-charge of the Department of Immigration, were killed and another was injured after the gunmen opened fire at the immigration office in Yan Myo Aung ward in Mon State’s Ye Township, the sources told Than Lwin Times.
A group of gunmen called “Ye Balu” attacked the office at around 12 noon on August 3.
U Aung Ko Htet, deputy in-charge; U Thein Htiek, deputy officer; and a mechanic, were killed in the attack; and U Myin Lwin, deputy in-charge, was injured.
According to locals, U Myint Lwin was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and is in critical condition.
After the immigration office was attacked, the regime troops tightened security in Ye Township, carried out searches and opened fire.
The shooting occurred after the Ye Balu resistance force issued a warning letter to employees serving under the military council to resign by August 2.
In July, the department of Immigration and Population in Ye Township was attacked with a bomb.
