Several residents have been evacuated in Mon State after unrelenting rains caused floods, emergency rescuers told Than Lwin Times.
In Mawlamyine, Kyaikmaraw, Paung and Mudon Townships, muddy water was seen flooding the roads.
The people in flood-hit areas were urgently transferred to safer places and religious hall.
Currently, the rescue teams are helping the flood-affected people with their accommodation and meals.
Meanwhile, floods have forced the schools in Mudon and Kyaikmaraw Townships to temporarily close.
Besides, at least 10 houses and shops were damaged in Mudon and Chaungsone by the squall on the 15th and 16th of August.
Mon State is faced with floods and other natural catastrophes every year, and in 2019, floods and landslides killed nearly 70 local people.
