Belin, January (27)
The military convoy hit the landmines planted by resistance forces on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road near Daukyat village in Mon State’s Belin Township, killing three soldiers and injuring one other, the locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.
The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint force attacked a 10-vehicle military convoy driving from Kyaikto to Thaton around 10 am on January 27.
Following the explosion, there was a gunfight between junta forces and joint KNLA forces, while regime bases launched mortar shells on nearby areas.
After exchanging fire, the military column entered Kaukyat village and destroyed one house with a mortar shell in addition to burning down three other houses.
The fighting caused a roadblock on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway, which was only reopened in the afternoon.
