Ye, February (11)
The junta troops have infiltrated the northern part of Ye Township in Mon State, where martial law has been imposed, since February 8, the PDF members told Than Lwin Times.
More than 60 members of the junta column entered the villages of Balamu and Ywarhaung in northern Ye Township, which are mostly inhabited by Karen ethnics.
Although there hasn’t been any fighting yet, according to Lieutenant Kyan Yit of the Ye Guerilla Force, military tension has risen between the two forces.
However, it is believed that the regime troops have not yet invaded Ye’s southern territory, which is held by the New Mon State Party.
Under martial law, the security of the entire Ye township has been tightened, with security forces added to checkpoints and pedestrians subjected to stringent inspections.
The military council has declared martial law in 37 townships nationwide since February 2, including Ye in Mon State.
