The regime forces have arrested at least 10 innocent civilians, accusing them of being related to PDFs in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
On March 11, the junta arrested 18-year-old Ma Kay Thi Thi Lin and Ma Thet Myat Noe from Zinbar village and Kyaukshat village, Ye Phyu Township, who came to Kalainaugn Town to buy a phone.
In addition, on March 12, when an armed group came to kill militia leader U Lar Lar in Zardi village, he escaped, and at around 2:00 pm, the junta arrested political prisoners U Aung Min, a health officer, and Ko Aung Kyaw, who had recently been released from Zardi village.
After that, the military council further arrested four family members, including Ma Moe Myat Nadi Htwe of Ward No. 3 in Kalainaung town and Ko Kyaw Thu Htwe of Migyaung Hlaung village.
The arrested were taken to the Kalainaung police station and the interrogation center at LIB 410.
In February, the military council arrested nearly 20 local people in Yebyu Township; some of them were released, but most of them are still in custody.
More than 20,000 citizens have been detained since the military coup, according to a report from the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) dated March 10.
