Nearly 200 clashes broke out between the junta army and allied Border Guard Force (BGF) ,and the KNLA Brigade 5 in the KNU’s Hpapun District in March alone, reported the Brigade 5.
The fighting left 92 dead and 45 wounded on the junta and BGF sides, including one company commander and two sergeants, according to the statement.
The Karen National Liberation Army’s (KNLA) 5th Brigade lost four comrades and injured 14, the statement said.
According to the statement, the military council’s three military vehicles and one motorcycle were also destroyed in the battle.
In addition, the military aircraft dropped two bombs and fired 142 rounds of heavy weapons at villages and fields, killing one and injuring five others, said the Brigade 5.
In the KNU’s Hpapun District, the junta army and the BGF forces continue to carry out military operations and commit human rights violations, clashing with the KNLA Brigade 5, which has caused many local people to flee, according to the Karen social organizations.
