Ye, April (30)
One BGF member was killed and three others injured in an attack on a joint checkpoint of pro-junta militia and BGF at the entrance of Kyonpaw village in Mon State’s Ye Township, where martial law has been imposed, a local told Than Lwin Times.
Around 7 in the morning of April 29, the Ye Balu, a resistance group, attacked the joint checkpoint of the militia and the BGF, which is headed by U Lin Oo, the administrator of Ah Yu Taung village.
One member of Border Guard Force (BGF) was killed in the incident, while two militia members and a woman who collected the gate fee were also injured.
Locals say the newly-opened checkpoint near the junta’s Light Infantry Battalion 586 collects money from commuters and vehicles.
According to the leader of Ye Balu, six soldiers, militia members, and BGF troops were killed in the incident.
Pro-junta Telegram accounts are spreading propaganda that a group of men wearing robes and pretending to be monks attacked the checkpoint.
Than Lwin Times has reached out to Ye Balu’s leader about the incident, but he has yet to respond.
On April 4, Ye Balu group attacked the junta militia gate in Taungzun village, Ye township, killing one militia member, injuring two others, and capturing one militia member alive.
