Daw Su Lat Phyu, the headmistress of a middle school in Kade village in Tanintharyi Region’s Palaw Township, died of gunshot wounds at her home, locals told Than Lwin Times.
The unidentified gunmen shot and killed Daw Su Lat Phyu, a school principal who lived in Magyigon village in Palaw Township, around 1:00 p.m. on May 25.
Daw Su Lat Phyu suffered bullet wounds to her head and face and died at the scene.
It is reported that the deceased head teacher, who worked at Kade village school, was going to the Township Education Office after receiving training.
According to locals, Daw Su Lat Phyu was promoted to middle school principal following the military coup.
Military lobbyists spread propaganda on their fake Telegram accounts that nearly 15 members of the People’s Defense Forces arrived and shot dead the school principal at her home.
The Than Lwin Times has not been able to confirm who shot and killed the principal and why.
According to data from local research groups, nearly 400 civilians have been killed in Tanintharyi Region in more than two years since the military coup.
