Mawlamyine, April (14)

The King Peacock Operation, a local defense group, urges people in Thayet Chaung Township, Tanintharyi Region to keep in touch with them while fleeing the fighting.

Thousands of residents have fled Thayet Chaung Township due to frequent conflicts between the junta troops and the local People’s Defense Force.

Plans to attack were canceled, according to a Peacock Operation Group official, since the IDPs got in the way of battlefiels.

Therefore, the people have been instructed to contact the group if they have to flee the fighting, and the group will provide them with a secure place to stay.

“In the last battle, the refugees did not run as we had planned, but some ran along the route of the army. And others refused to run because they believed they have not done anything. The military council arrested the people and used them as human shields. Considering the refugees, we have abandoned our plans,” said an official.

The King Peacock Operation team also stated that it was collaborating with appropriate groups to supply food and medicine to the refugees.

More than 5,000 people in Thayet Chaung Township have been unable to return home due to conflict between the military council and the local People’s Defense Force.
