Mawlamyine, April (13)

Six men, including Myanmar boxing champion Tu Tu, are being interrogated by the coup junta, according to sources close to the boxer.

Tu Tu and five others were arrested at a restaurant north of Manchaung in Minbu (Saku) Township, Magway Region on April 11.

They were arrested by the military council on charges of being members of the People’s Defense Forces and the regime claimed they had firearms taken.

A source close to Tu Tu said that they were arrested due to an informant and are currently being interrogated at Saku military camp.
Tu Tu, a boxer legend, has been active in anti-military protests.

In Myanmar, top athletes and artists have been arbitrarily arrested and jailed since the military coup. Phoe Thaw, an MMA fighter, was detained in May of last year.
