The locals and Karenni National Defense officials say the coup council is stil making military preparations in Loikaw, Karenni State where the violence has intensified, the locals and People’s Defense Force officials reported.
The military council has been deploying armored vehicles and tanks in Loikaw since the second week of April extending its presence in most parts of the city.
Artillery vehicles have also been deployed in Loikaw’s Chikel and Nankut quarters and heavy weapons are equipped on the exit routes to Lowpita.
The military council is now patrolling Loikaw and strengthening inspections, according to a Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) official.
The coup junta is preparing to hold Thingyan Festivals nationwide, but has not set up a pavilion in Loikaw and is expanding its troops.
According to the Karenni People’s Defense Forces, warfare in Karenni State may intensify following Thingyan.
In Karenni State, fighting continues between the military council and the local People’s Defense Force after the military coup, with over 200,000 people fleeing to the forests and refugee camps.
