Kyaikto, June (18)

A military convoy was attacked by cluster landmines near Letpadaung Cemetery in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township on June 17, KNU Brigade 1 Thaton District officials told Than Lwin Times.

A combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 1 and the PDFs attacked a convoy of nine vehicles driving from Bago Region’s Waw Township to Kyaikto Township.



A military vehicle was hit by landmines, killing at least four military personnel, it reported.

The KNLA coalition was able to withdraw unharmed, despite the resistance from the military council after the convoy was attacked.

Military council convoys are frequently attacked near Ingabo village in Kyaikto Township, with many deaths on the military side.
