The military council has issued a local order to restrict the movement of people in Ye Township of Mon State, claiming that it is for the safety of the people, the rule of law, and the peace of the community.

According to the local order issued on August 5, people are not allowed to travel across the area without the approval of ward or township administrators or a National Registration Card, and no person or vehicle can pass through the town between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.

It stated that no other vehicles or people pass through the prohibited areas in the township except for the authorized vehicles and people.

The announcement said that two men are not allowed to ride a motorcycle; a man is not allowed to ride in the backseat driven by a woman but a woman can ride in the back seat behind a man; and two women can ride a motorcycle.

During security operations in the township, the security forces also prohibited vehicles and motorcycles from driving away without being inspected by the security team.

When crossing Ye Bridge and Chaung Taung Bridge, all passengers except the driver must walk down the road, and vehicles should not be parked on any bridge for no reason, said the statement.

Meanwhile, all kinds of vessels must submit a list of names of passengers to the relevant village administrators and obtain proof of permission to leave.

In addition, the military council has strictly instructed that the passengers must report their arrival and not travel during the rest of the time except for the specified time.

The military council will set August 6 to 12 as an awareness period and will check to see whether the instructions are followed or not.

“If found to have violated the rules after the awareness program, action will be taken either under existing law or under Section 188 of the Penal Code,” the statement said.
