More than 100 households were evacuated in Mon State because of incessant rain and floods, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
The motorways, some neighbors and villages have been inundated because it has been raining since August 10.
The water level rose to four feet in Ye Township’s Hangan village, and more than 100 households in the low-lying neighborhoods are urgently moving to nearby relatives’ homes and monasteries.
A resident of Hangang Village said that since this morning, the people in the low-lying neighborhood have been moving on their own plans, while the people living in the high-rise buildings have not moved.
Hangang Village has more than 2,000 houses, and so far about 1,000 houses are flooded, and if the rains continue, more people may be displaced.
In Mon State, more than 70 people died due to floods and landslides in 2019, and nearly 200,000 people were affected by natural disasters.
