One man killed in attack on road transport administration, immigration offices

The road transport administration and immigration offices adjacent to 4th street, Wekyun Myothit in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei was attacked around noon on August 30, the sources told Than Lwin Times.

Two members of the Dawei Guerrilla force on motorcycles opened fire on the two offices.

There were no injuries to the office staff, but the office walls were marred by bullet holes.

During the attack, U Nyunt Shwe, a 60-year-old former traffic police officer who was in front of the office, received a gunshot wound and died on the way to the hospital.

According to a Dawei guerrilla group source, they attacked the offices of road transport administration and immigration because they were assisting the military council in raising funds, and they killed U Nyunt Shwe, who was working as a broker and military council informant.

Residents claim that military council has been constantly searching and inspecting Dawei Township and blocking some parts of the roads.

The Ye Balu, a resistance force, attacked the immigration office, leaving three dead, including the deputy immigration officer of Ye on August 3.
