Junta plane bombs villages in KNU’s Nyaunglaybin District

The military aircraft dropped bombs on three villages in the 3rd Brigade of the Nyaunglaybin District four times in one day, according to the Karen National Union (KNU).

The regime army has increased its military activities, and there have been frequent skirmishes ever since the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) simultaneously attacked the three military camps in Kyaukgyi and Shwekyinin Townships of the KNU-held Nyaunglaybin District on November 12.

In addition, the Military Council is constantly targeting civilians, scouting and bombing the communities with drones or fighter jets, and firing mortar shells.

The junta carried out a total of four airstrikes: two in Kaheedae village in Sawthae Khee village trace of Shwekyin, one in Lae War village, and the other in Kwee Lar village of Kyaukgyi Town around 5 pm of December 5.

The junta soldiers opened fire with heavy and small arms into the village of Zalotegyi in Shwekyin Township around 8:30 pm, focusing on the local communities, and the locals were forced to flee after suffering another attack on December 3, according to KNU’s report.

For the time being, more than 100,000 people in Kyaukgyi, Shwekyin and Mone townships in Nyaunglaybin District of KNU’s Brigade 3 area are living in fear, while more than 20,000 people are still on the run and in need of humanitarian assistance.
