Thanbyuzayat, January (18)
The regime’s strategic Anan Kwin military unit has restricted access to the Thanbyuzayat-Phayar Thone Su road, which connects Karen State and Mon State, starting January 17, the locals told to Than Lwin Times.
This order followed an 8-day suspension of access to the Kyainseingyi-Phayra Thone Su road by the Karen National Union.
The regime forces of the Anan Kwin camp informed the villagers not to pass the Thanbyuzayat-Phayar Thone Su road and not to go from one village to another via the village administrators.
Locals believe the junta may have closed the road to increase military operations or to transport weapons and ammunition.
Because of intense fighting in Kyainseikgyi Township, the KNU Dooplayar District warned vehicles not to use the Kyainseikgyi-Phayra Thone Su road between January 16 and 23.
On January 4, the combined force of KNLA Brigade 6 attacked the junta bases—Infantry
Battalions 283, 284, and 32—at the same time in Dooplayar District, and the fighting has been going on since then.
According to the local Kyainseikgyi’s People’s Administration Team, the regime forces killed residents, used some as human shields, and set fire to homes.
Over 16,000 people from more than 20 villages in Kyainseikgyi Township are currently seeking refuge, and they are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
