KNDP captures Bawlakhe-based junta camp

On January 20, the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) raided the regime camp stationed at Maesalaung Hill near Nan Phe village in Kayah State’s Bawlakhe Town, the KNDF said in a statement.

The KNDF started to launch offensive 7:50 am and after an hour and 20 minutes, they had taken control of the camp.

As other troops left the camp, the KNDF had to to clean up the bodies of five dead soldiers and set the camp on fire.

The KNDF took control of the camp despite three airstrikes by military aircraft and artillery shelling from the troops stationed in Bawlakhe.

The KNDF seized a sizable amount of heavy weapon and military equipment, and one comrade from the Karenni Army (KA) lost his life in the raid.

The junta camp on Maesalaung Hill in Bawlakhe is of military importance, and the military council has managed to gain a foothold there since many years ago, the KNDF reported.
