Kyaikto, March (30)

The resistance forces launched an attack on the junta checkpoint at the intersection near Sittaung Birdge in Mokepalin village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township in the morning of March 29, an official from PDF-Thaton District confirmed to Than Lwin Times.

The combined forces of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) attacked the checkpoint with drone and heavy weapons around 10:30 on March 29.

The regime forces fired back in retaliation with small and heavy weapons.

At least four junta soldiers might have been killed in the attack, but the details are being investigated, said Ko Aye Min Htun, a representative from PDF-Thaton District.

The attack caused a traffic jam on the Mawlamyine-Yangon highway for more than two hours, and by 1:00 pm, traffic was moving normally.

Meanwhile, the junta troops stationed at Letpanpin Cemetery in Ingabo village, Kyaikto Township, were attacked by a drone around 11 am on March 29, and the condition of the casualties is yet to be known.

On March 27, the drone attack on the Mayanchaung checkpoint injured at least three policemen.
