Real vs. Fake News
Mingalabar! Welcome to Than Lwin Times’ Real vs. Fake News program.
This program verifies fake news and misinformation about revolution events spread on
social media after the military takeover.
Today, we will be checking the content of the photo titled, “International communities support the military council’s attack on Pazigyi village”.
This content has been disseminated via the fake Telegram account of Hmine Wei since April 18.
Military lobbyists have been spreading rumors online with photos saying, “Regarding the bombing of the NUG office outside Pazigyi village, the international community supports the action of the military council as it cracks down on terrorists.”
The Than Lwin Times looked into the post and found it to be misinformation.
In reality, the VOA news agency reported that the foreign ministers of the G-7 summit strongly condemned the military council’s air assault on Pazigyi village.
The foreign ministers of the G-7 countries once again called on the nations to stop sending weapons to Myanmar and demanded that the military regime immediately stop violence and release all arbitrarily held political prisoners.
In addition, Britain suggested that the UN Security Council discuss the Pazigyi village incident, and ASEAN strongly condemned the military council’s airstrike that killed more than 160 people in the village of Pazigyi, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, on April 13, according to Myanmar Now news agency.
The chairman of the Malaysian Advisory Group on Myanmar, Dr. Syed Hamid Alba, issued a statement on April 13 in which he strongly denounced the military council’s airstrike in Pazigyi village, which killed hundreds of people, including women and minor children, RFA reported.

According to the reliable sources mentioned above, the report that “international communities support the military council’s attack on Pazigyi village” is just false information spread by junta supporters.
