Belin, May (3)
The joint resistance forces reported that they carried out an attack on a junta artillery unit based in Zee Wun village in Mon State’s Belin Township in the afternoon of May 1.
The combined forces, including the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), dropped two bombs on the junta artillery unit, which frequently fired heavy weapons into the communities.
According to a member of the resistance forces, the bombs burst within the artillery compound, but the severity of the damage and deaths is still being investigated.
In the afternoon, the joint forces launched a further attack on the junta forces secretly deployed between Dauk Yat and Shwe Yaung Pya villages in Beilin with a drone.
It is said that at least two junta troops might have been killed in the drone attack.
Following that attack, the military regime’s Zee Wun artillery unit fired at least eight mortar shells into the villages surrounding Zee Wun village, but they only landed outside the village, and no damages were reported.
More than 7,000 people have been displaced due to artillery shelling by junta army in KNU’s Belin Township, and the IDPs have not returned to their homes until now, said the volunteers who assist the refugees.
