The junta launched artillery shells at Kadun Shaung village in Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region in the absence of fighting, injuring three children, locals told Than Lwin Times.
When there was no fighting on May 2, around 6:00 p.m., the junta artillery stationed on Zahar Mountain fired two heavy weapons at Kadun Shaung village.
The military council’s mortar shells wounded six-year-old Ma Phyu Phyu Thin, eight-year-old Maung Aung Myo Min, and 10-year-old Ma Nyein Thazin in the heads and legs.
According to reports, social rescue teams rushed the three youngsters who were struck by shrapnel to a 100-bed military hospital in Dawei.
According to locals, the junta artillery fired mortar shells into Kadun Shaung village after learning that the members of People’s Defense Forces were there.
According to local research groups, at least 20 civilians have been killed by junta heavy weapons in Dawei Township after the military coup.
