Bokepyin, May (5)


The People’s Defense Force in Bokepyin Township reported on May 4 that an attack on the military security affairs office in Pyigyimandaing Town in Tanintharyi Region’s Bokepyin Township killed a militiaman on duty and confiscated a gun.


The junta’s office of military security affairs was attacked by Battalion 1 of Kawthaung PDF and Flying Star, a resistance force in Bokepyin, around 6 a.m. on May 2.


The junta-aligned militia, which was on guard, and the PDFs then engaged in an almost 20-minute firefight.


After the attack, the revolutionary group raided the home of U Htay Win, a militia leader in Pyigyimandaing, and he escaped, and a gun and some bullets were seized.


During the raid on the office of military security affairs, the junta troops launched artillery shells, but the joint force of PDFs was unharmed, according to the Bokepyin PDF.


The office of military security affairs in Pyigyimandaing Town in Bokepyin Township was attacked for the first time in more than two years since the military coup.
