A vehicle carrying pilgrims overturned at the Jantaw crossroad in Mayanchaung village, Kyaikto Township, Mon State, killing one person and injuring nearly 30 on the morning of May 5, the social rescue team told Than Lwin Times.


Yesterday morning at 8 o’clock, a vehicle carrying more than 30 monks, novices, women, and men from Yangon Region’s Thanlyin Township, lost control of its speed and overturned near the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway.


A 30-year-old woman was killed, and 30 men and women, including children were seriously injured in the car accident.
The injured were taken to Theinzayat Hospital by social rescue teams and residents.


It is reported that those in this vehicle that overturned on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Kyaikto Township were pilgrims on their way to Ye Township.


Passenger vehicle and truck accidents frequently occur on the Yangon-Mawlamyine and Mawlamyine-Ye roads in Mon State, resulting in the deaths of travelers.
