Mawlamyine, 15 May

The total death toll reached 5 in severe Cyclonic storm Mocha which made it landfall in Myanmar on 15 May morning, according the statement of Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management under the National Unity Government.

 Causalities occurred in Rakhine, Shan, Mandalay and Ayeyawady.

The severe cyclone passed through Rakhine coast near Sittway township at the windspeed 130 mph.

Telecom towers and trees fell down, and roofs were blown off  amid the strong wind in Sittway. The damage of 50 houses were reported in Gwa Township.

 The NUG warned of possible tidal waves under the storms in Rakhine state , landslides from heavy rains in Chin state, and thunderstorms in Bago, Yangon and Ayayawady.
