Dawei, May (30)
Ten locals were arrested as human shields after the junta army marched into Yewaing village in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township and set two homes on fire, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.
On the afternoon of May 28, a military column of more than 100 soldiers entered Yewaing village from Thabyae Chaung village.
After that, the army burned down two houses in Yewaing village, accusing those families of supporting the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs).
Locals said that the same troops captured 10 local people from Yewaing and Mying Mat Tat villages as human shields during their retreat.
It is reported that the regime troops have been temporarily stationed at the monastery in Mying Mat Tat village after arresting local residents as human shields.
The junta invasion has forced the residents of the villages of Yewaing, Mying Min Tat, Khaung Tai Pyin, Pakat Inn, Kin Kon, and Yeaing to flee to safety.
There have been at least five clashes between the junta troops and the local resistance forces in eastern Dawei, with losses on both sides. News- Than Lwin Time
