Ye, May (31)

Two members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) from Mon State’s Ye Township surrendered to the military council, according to the junta’s propaganda Telegram accounts.

It is reported that a ceremony was held at Sin Pyu Shin Hall in Military Operations Command (MOC-19) to reward two PDF members who surrendered to the junta without having committed any crime and to hand them over to their parents at 9:00 a.m. on May 30.

The ceremony was attended by a total of 35 people, including the commander of MOC-19, members of the battalion, department officials, and the two surrendering PDFs and their parents.

The military council accepted the PDFs’ weapons, offered them a cash reward.

A member of the Yamanya Guerilla Force told Than Lwin Times that the two PDF members who surrendered were not members of the PDF, but just daily wage earners on farms in the liberated areas.

Their nicknames are Bo Phyu and Nga Kywat, and they are from Dawei and Ye townships, they lived in the liberated area, and they only interacted with some PDFs of the People’s Defense Forces.

The news came out that they had surrendered to the military council five days after those two disappeared from the liberated area.

Mon State’s Ye Township is the stronghold of revolutionary forces, and the military council declared martial law in Ye on February 2.
