Tanintharyi, June (9)

The military regime detained seven displaced people who returned home to get food in Nyaung Pin Gon village, Tanintharyi Township, locals told Than Lwin Times.

On the afternoon of June 7, five men and two women were arrested while on their way home to get food when they came across junta forces.

The junta forces arrested seven local residents on suspicion of being members of the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs).

It is reported that the seven detainees are being interrogated at Light Infantry Battalion 556 and Artillery 306 based in Tanintharyi.

Since the end of May, nearly all residents of Nyaung Pin Gon village have been fleeing the military council’s invasion.

Thousands of local people have fled Tanintharyi Township, where martial law has been imposed, due to fighting between the two sides as well as heavy weapons fire by junta forces, and they have not returned home until today.
