Hpa-an, June (15)

The residence of Naing Thuwanna, the Union Minister of the National Unity Government (NUG), was confiscated as state property by the military council, locals told Than Lwin Times.

On the evening of June 13, junta police and administrative officials sealed off the house of Minister Naing Thuwanna in Ward No. 7 of Htone Ai Village in Karen State’s Hap-an Township.

It is said that the military council has pasted a notice to seal off the residence of Minister Naing Thuwanna twice before, and the last notice has again been put on the door of the house as a state property.

A resident said that the members of the military council hung a notice on the balcony of the upper floor of Minister Nai Thuwanna’s house and locked the gate of the house.

The junta lobbyists wrote on their Telegram accounts that Minister Naing Thuwanna’s residence was sealed off because he was inciting violence.

On March 31, 2021, Naing Thuwanna, a veteran Mon politician, was appointed as the Union Minister of Labor by the National Unity Government (NUG).

Naing Thuwanna was a former member of the central working committee of the Mon Unity Party (MUP), but left the party when the MUP cooperated with the military council after the coup.
