The junta forces stationed in Dawnyay Khu village in Kayah state’s Demoso Tonwship retreated from the region, locals told Than Lwin Times.
The troops withdrew in ten military vehicles on June 14.
On May 2, that military column invaded the Dawtama Gyi village tract and was stationed in the villages of Dawnyay Khu and Dawso Phya.
According to U Banya, joint secretary of the Karenni Interim Administration Council, the regime troops planted many mines before retreating from the village.
He said that regime troops may have retreated to support his troops in the ongoing battle in Mobye on the Shan-Kayah border.
Now, heavy fighting is taking place on the eastern side of the Than Lwin River and in Mobye Town, on the border between Kayah and Thailand.
The fighting has forced more than 2.5 million people in Kayah State to flee to jungles, and the displaced people are in urgent need of food and basic items, said the social organizations.
The military council has launched heavy offensives to seize Kayah State, adjacent to Nay Pyi Taw.
