Three civilians, including two children, were hit by junta artillery fire when there was no fighting in Kale Tagondiang village, Kyainseikgyi of Karen State, locals told Than Lwin Times.
On the night of June 19, an artillery unit based in Ahbit village of Mudong Township fired heavy weapons into the area of the KNU Brigade 6 territory of Kale Tagondaing in Kyainseikgyi.
As the junta troops fired heavy weapons into villages in Kale Tagondaing and Pulain villages, injuring three civilians, including two children, and the building in the monastery compound was also hit by shrapnel, locals said.
Three local people who were seriously injured are receiving medical treatment, and the local people are fleeing their homes after the explosion, said the sources.
The regime troops stationed at the police station compound in Kale Tagondaing village and those based in Ahbit village frequently shelled heavy weapons into the villages under the control of KNU Brigade 6, killing and injuring civilians.
