Ye, June (27)

A member of a junta-aligned militia group was shot dead and a local woman was injured in Dooya village, in Mon State’s Ye Township, on the afternoon of June 26, said locals.

U Soe Aung, a 64-year-old militia member, was shot at around 12:00 noon on June 26 while accompanying a funeral procession in the village.

U Soe Aung, who was also a military veteran, received gunshot wounds in the neck, chin, and chest and died on the spot. And Ma Zin New was also wounded in her thigh and leg.

The leader of the Ye Balu resistance group claimed responsibility for the attack that killed militiaman U Soe Aung.

On June 22, the Ye Balu group shot and killed a woman who was also a registration card agent and military informant in Lamaing Town.

Following the military coup, junta soldiers, policemen, junta-aligned militiamen, and military informants, as well as departmental offices, were frequently targeted in Mon State’s Ye Township, which is now under martial law.
