Kareni border guard force announced on 1 July that they have openly defected to anti-junta forces as they will stand with the National Unity Government.
The Karenni National People’s Liberation Front (KNPLF) was an alliance of the military council, but they secretly supported Spring Revolution in various ways for some reasons.
The KNPLF said in their statement that they have determined to fight against the military decisively in the Karenni battle ground.
Members of KNPLF joined the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force and the Karenni Army in raiding Maese police station, Strategic Hill and military’s border camp on 14 June.
They KNPLF signed ceasefire with the military regime in May 1994, and transformed into border guard force.
