U Thein Oo, deputy staff officer of the Department of Agriculture, Launglon Township in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei District, was shot and killed on the night of July 21, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.
U Thein Oo, a 53-year-old agricultural officer, was with his family in the compound of the agricultural office when an armed group abducted him and shot him dead in the backyard of his home.
U Thein Oo was shot in the forehead and died at the scene.
On July 22, the Launglon People’s Defense Force (LLPDF) claimed responsibility for the death of U Thein Oo, deputy staff officer of the Launglon Agricultural Department.
The LLPDF has warned U Thein Oo to stop cooperating with the regime forces and Pyu Saw Hti militia group in Launglon Township to inspect travelers and collect money at the Dawei-Yangon road at the Ma Hlwe Taung gate.
But U Thein Oo did not follow the warning and continued to commit inappropriate acts, so the LLPDF assassinated him.
Local research organizations have reported that 23 civilians were killed during armed conflicts in Tanintharyi in June.
