Nay Pyi Taw, July (25)
Coup leader Min Aung Hlaing offered honorary titles to 26 members of the Sangha, including his favorites Sitagu and Chekinda.
These kinds of titles are usually given to military officers, generals, and individuals, but now the military leader is also giving them to monks who are familiar with him and do not oppose his brutal actions.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense of the Military Council awarded 205 military officers, police officers, and the personnels from military-owned Inwa Bank, private companies, and the Myanmar Economic Corporation with honorary orders.
The military council announced on July 23 that the recipients of the honorary titles are those who have done great work for the development of national security and the rule of law, and the construction of Vijayabhumi Nimmana Buddha image.
Since the coup, the military leader has been giving various titles to ethnic leaders, junta-appointed officers, military officers, artists, and individuals on special days.
The coup leader bestowed the title of Thiri Pyanchi on nationalist activist U Wirathu in honor of last year’s National Day.
