Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG) Duwa Lashi La warned the military council to immediately and unconditionally release all political prisoners, including the unjustly detained civilian leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and President U Win Myint.
The Acting President’s tweet came up after the military council announced that the two leaders would receive partial pardons.
He also said that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, U Win Myint, and all political prisoners must be released, and the military council must be accountable for their health.
To commemorate the second full moon day of Waso (Dhammacakka Day), the military council granted partial amnesty for five cases against public leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and two cases against President U Win Myint.
The military council cut six years of prison terms for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and four years for President U Win Myint.
