Tanintharyi, 3 August
The revolutionary forces said that they attacked Tanintharyi-based No. 561 Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) and the Office of Military Security Affairs with heavy weapons and small arms.
The LIB 561, based in Nyaungpinkwin Village, Tanintharyi Township, was attacked by the Allied People’s Defense Forces in the afternoon of 1 August.
A spokesperson for the Non-aligned Guerilla Force said the resistance fighters were able to withdraw without being harmed after a 20-minute exchange of fire.
Moreover, the allied resistance forces pounded the office of Military Security Affairs situated on Kannar Road in Tanintharyi Township in the same evening.
Some military personnel might have been killed in the attacks on the junta battalion and office of Military Security Affairs and the details of the situation are still being investigated, said resistance fighters.
After the attacks, the reckless shelling of regime forces from LIB 561 destroyed two houses in Tanintharyi Township, said the locals.
At least 50 clashes erupted between the junta army and revolutionary forces in Tanintharyi Region in July alone, with the junta suffering heavy losses, according to the statements of local research groups.
