Former vice-president U Henry Van Thio dismissed from NLD

Former Vice President U Henry Van Thio of National League for Democracy government was dismissed from party on 9 August.

The press statement of NLD’s central working committee made this decision at the interim emergency meeting of second central committee on 8 August as he was found cooperating with the miliary council.

As a representative of Amyotha Hluttaw, he has also broken his promises to the voters of 2020 general election, and worked with the military, deviating objectives and violating policies of the party to focus on and implement the expectation of people.

Than Lwin Times tried to contact the former vice-president, but it was impossible to contact him.

Myanmar military have arrested nine central executive committee members, including the chairperson and vice-chair of NLD, and party’s many members remain arrested.

The statement includes NLD party is fighting against the military dictators together with all the people across the country.

After the coup in February 2021, the military has arrested 987 members of NLD, and over 50 out of them were killed at the interrogative centers and by pro-military Pyusawhtee members. Over 300 houses of democracy activists were sealed off by the military.
