Bilin, 10 August

Vehicles are temporarily not allowed to use the road section of Yangon-Mawlamyine in Bilin township, Mon state as the way is badly flooded.

Torrential rain has caused severe floods and water level passed the peak point of Bilin river. As a result, the road section was closed on 7pm 8 August, and transportation is still blocked until 10 am on 9 August.

“No vehicle is allowed to use the road as the flow of water is very strong. As the water level is increasing, we cannot imagine when the road will be reopened,” said a member of humanitarian organization to Than Lwin Times.

Hundreds of passenger cars are being stranded near Bilin township and Thahton township due to flood on Yangon-Mawlamyine  highway.

Over 100,000 flood victims are now taking shelter at 27 temporary rescue camps due to flood in Bilin, according to the report of local humanitarian groups.
