Myawaddy, 22 August
A van was attacked on Karen State’s Myawaddy-Kawkayeik road, Thai-Myanmar trade route, injuring four others, locals and the rescue team told Than Lwin Times.
The car carrying 15 people was attacked near the Dawna Thitsar restaurant on the Myawaddy-Kawkayeik Asian Highway around 11:00 a.m. on August 20.
Maung San Lin Aung, 23, Ko Soe Min Aung, 35, Ko Htein Lin, 45, and Ma Nang Luang Ngin, 19, were among those injured in the attack.
In addition, a 12-wheeler carrying the backhoe excavator was also damaged by an artillery shell.
The injured were taken to Myawaddy hospital by the social rescue team.
Due to heavy rainfall on 7 August, a landslide occurred near Tawnaw Waterfall along Myawaddy-Kawkayeik Asian Road, and passengers reported that the road was blocked and only a few small cars were permitted to pass through.
