Ye, 30 August
Seven soldiers were killed and eight others wounded in the battle that took place near Kanin Kamaw and Than Kadaik villages in Mon State’s Ye Township, according to the 3rd Division of Southern Regional Command.
When a military column of almost 150 troops invaded around 4:00 p.m. on 28 August, a clash broke out with the joint column of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) / the White Tiger.
The junta artillery based in Ye fired continuously with heavy weapons in a nearly 45-minute battle, according to the statement.
A soldier from the KNLA Joint Force was critically injured during the conflict between the two sides, and the subsequent situation is unknown.
Than Lwin Times tried to reach the 3rd Division of Southern Regional Command regarding the fighting but has not received any response so far.
Nearly 1,000 residents have fled the fighting in the villages of Than Kadaik, Painnekon, Aung Tharyar, Kanin Kamaw, Wepathe, and Belamu, said the locals.
One resident of Thanka Daik village was killed and one injured in the fighting, but Than Lwin Times has not been able to independently confirm it.
There have been frequent clashes between the junta army and the revolutionary forces in Ye, where martial law has been declared, while the revolutionary forces are also blocking the roads and conducting searches on the Mawlamyine-Dawei highway in an attempt to control the area.
