NUG poses military threat to Nay Pyi Taw, Acting President says

Yangon, 8 September

Acting President Duwa La Shila stated that the National Unity Government (NUG) poses a military threat to Nay Pyi Taw, the headquarters of the military council, within two years of the People’s Resistance War.

On 7 September, Acting President made this remark during a state speech commemorating the 2nd anniversary of the People’s Resistance War.

According to the Acting President, the revolutionary comrades were able to make Nay Pyi Taw feel insecure during the two years of defense, which is thought to be the safest spot for the enemy military regime.

The Acting President also said that the military regime has failed in all sectors, including the military, political, economic, and diplomatic sectors, and that the spring revolution is getting closer to achieving victory.

General Zaw Min Tun, spokesman for the military regime, admitted the fighting around Nay Pyi Taw, but mocked the slogan “All roads to Nay Pyi Taw” at the 22nd press conference held on 22 August.

According to the biennial report of the National Unity Government (NUG), nearly 9,900 battles erupted across the country, with nearly 30,000 junta forces dead.

According to its report, the NUG has also established 293 People’s Defense Army (PDF) battalions across the country, with 68 battalions still being reviewed for recognition as battalions.
