An inspector from the police force special branch was assassinated in Aung Thukha in Mon State’s Ye Township, where martial law was declared, locals told Than Lwin Times.

Inspector Myint Lwin was shot to death by unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle as he was in his car alone.

Inspector Myint Lwin received seven gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Following the incident, regime troops and policemen arrived and examined Inspector Myint Lwin’s body before transporting it to Ye Township Public Hospital, said the locals.

After that, the military council blocked the entrances and exits of the town and carried out searches, and some travelers were also yelled at, said the sources.

The leader of Ye Balu claimed the assassination of Inspector Myint Lwin on his Facebook account.

Junta troops, police forces, and departmental offices frequently came under attack in Ye, and the military council declared martial law and tightened security in Ye Township.
