Belin, 24 September
A military convoy was hit by gunfire and a landmine on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road between Belin and Thaton Townships in Mon State, reportedly injuring or killing numerous soldiers, said resistance fighters.
On 21 September evening, the combined forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) waited in advance and attacked a military convoy of nine vehicles heading to Thaton from Yangon.
A military vehicle was damaged in the blast, and nearly 20 regime troops might have been killed, the spokesman for the Hawk Revolutionary Squad (HRS) told Than Lwin Times.
After being attacked by mines, regime troops fought back with heavy and small arms, but the allied forces retreated unharmed.
According to locals, junta troops put the deceased soldiers on other military vehicles and then headed to Thaton.
On the same day, two people, including a police officer, were injured in the attack when they brought in an unlicensed car near Dauk Yet Village in Belin Township.
Junta troops have been under frequent attack in Mon State’s Thaton and Belin Townships in recent days, with the military council tightening security both inside and outside the town.
