Tanintharyi, 29 September
Two junta soldiers including warrant officer 1, were killed in the attack on a military checkpoint near Nyaung Pin Gwin in Tanintharyi Township, said the Non-aligned Guerilla Force.
The checkpoint, which houses at least ten members of the military council, was attacked by allied local defense troops around 5:00 a.m. on September 28.
The attack led to a firefight between the two sides for nearly 20 minutes, with junta army suffering casualties.
A Non-aligned Guerrilla Force official told Than Lwin Times that warrant officer 1 and a soldier from the junta army were killed and another one was injured during an exchange of fire.
After the exchange of fire between the two sides, the Light Infantry Battalion 561 based in Tanintharyi fired heavy weapons into Nyaung Pin Gwin village, but no damage was reported, according to the locals.
The Tanintharyi checkpoint where troops from the No 561 Light Infantry Battalion are stationed, is notorious for arresting and inspecting travelers and extorting money from them.
The attack was carried out by members of the Non-aligned Guerrilla Force, Myeik District Battalion 2, and the Southern Warriors Defense Force (SWDF).
