Thayetchaung, 30 September

Invasion of regime forces into one village after another in Thanintharyi Region’s Thayetchaung Township has forced thousands of local residents to flee their homes, locals told Than Lwin Times.

A column of more than 50 troops stationed at Mway Taung, Ya Nge Village, started to leave Kywe Min Gon Village at around 9:00 a.m. on September 29.

About 2,000 local residents have fled five villages, including Kywe Min Gon, Kyauk Khamauk, Kanat Thiri, and Painne Kyun due to the encroachment of regime forces.

Residents, including children and the elderly, were forced to seek shelter amid heavy rains and strong winds.

However, there had been no fighting until 2:00 p.m. yesterday, and the junta column was heading towards Kanat Thiri village, according to members of the local defense forces.

On September 25, the junta column entered Ka Twe village and set fire to two houses.
