A school girl was killed and three others injured as a drone-carrying bomb exploded in front of No. 2 Basic Education High School in Ward 2 of Karen State’s Kawkayeik Township, said locals.

On October 13 around noon, the explosion occurred on the east side of the school compound when there was no fighting.

According to locals, the bomb exploded after school hours, causing youngsters to be hurt or killed.

Ma Moe Moe Aye, an 11-year-old fourth-grader, was killed in the explosion, and three other kids, including a first-grader, were injured.

Ma Moe Moe Aye was sent to Kawkayeik Hospital, while first grader Ma Wei Wai Hnin, who was seriously injured, and 10th grader Ma Su Yin Aye were sent to Hpa-an Hospital for treatment.

Drone attacks are also being carried out by the junta army or the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in Kawkayeik Township.

On May 28, artillery shell exploded in Ward No. 7 of Kawkayeik Township, killing displaced couple while bringing food from their home, according to the locals.
