Battle broke out between the military troop and resistance force in San Pya village in Mon State’s Ye Township on the morning of 17 October, claiming heavy death toll on both sides, said locals.

The clash occurred when 50-strong regime troops entered the village around 4 a.m.

The two sides engaged in a one-hour battle near San Pya monastery, according to locals.

There were pools of blood near the monastery following the battle, said a local resident.

The pro-junta Telegram accounts reported that a body of PDF member was found, and two rifles, some bullets, and ammo boxes were confiscated.

Than Lwin Times tried to reach the KNLA Brigade 6 and the People’s Defense Forces for comment regarding the battle, but no response was received at the time of reporting.

The locals are hiding in the daytime and going out at night because of the battle.

For the time being, the regime forces have retreated, said locals.

Fighting has resumed in Ye Township, which was declared martial law following a period of quiet.
