An officer of the Department of Fisheries in Mon State’s Ye Township, died of gunshot wounds around 7:00 a.m. on October 18, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.

U Zaw Naing Lin, 52, was at the “Phu” tea shop in Yan Gyi Aung Ward, Ye, when a man riding a motorcycle shot him with a gun.

U Zaw Naing Lin died on the spot with three gunshot wounds.

Meanwhile, the head of Sin Taung Monastery, Kalawt Village, Ye Township, who was receiving alms at a tea shop, was hit by a bullet in his arm during the accident.

Locals said that an hour after the incident, regime troops and the police arrived at the shop and conducted an inspection.

The Ye Balu, a resistance group based in Ye, claimed responsibility for the assassination.

On September 30, an officer of the No. 592 Light Infantry Battalion was shot and killed in Kan Hla village of Ye Township.
