A member of the Chan Myae Parami philanthropic organization based in Thar Ya Bwin Village, Taninthary Township, died during interrogation after being arrested by the military regime, sources close to the family told Than Lwin Times.
On September 30, 28-year-old Ko Aung Kyaw Naing was arrested by the junta army at the intersection of Za Wae intersection on the Myeik-Tanintharyi Road after transporting an emergency patient from Thar Ya Bwin Village to Myeik Hospital.
On October 17, the military council informed his family that Ko Aung Kyaw Naing had died.
Ko Aung Kyaw Naing’s body was only allowed to be seen by his mother, and the junta army buried the body without returning it.
According to the locals, Ko Aung Kyaw Naing is a philanthropist who is not involved in political issues and does not even do business.
The Assistance Association for the Political Prisoners (AAPP) reported on October 21 that 176 civilians were killed by the regime forces during the coup in Tanintharyi.
